New Year, New Venue, New Stonewall Spirit

Happy New Year! We had quite the momentous year in 2010. We had plenty of ups and downs, but through it all, you were there. And thankfully, we worked to make some great things happen, everything from bringing forth a bigger than ever Stonewall presence at community events to ensuring Harry Reid's reelection to pushing for passage of DADT repeal. And believe it or not, even more is in store for us in 2011! We know we have plenty of challenges, but we also have great opportunities in the coming year.

We hope you will join us for the first Stonewall mixer of 2011, which will be at a new time (Wednesday at 6:00 PM) AND coming to a new location: OFA Nevada Headquarters!

We also promise to have some very special guests as we recognize our Latin@ friends, community partners, and allies who have worked alongside us to guarantee equal rights for all. State Senators Ruben Kihuen and Mo Denis, along with Assembly Members Olivia Diaz, Lucy Flores, and Irene Bustamante Adams, will be joining us to discuss the important decisions that will have to be made in this next legislative session that will affect all of us, Latin@ and LGBTQ, here in Nevada. We'll also be joined by community activists, such as local immigrant rights activist Astrid Silva, UNLV student advocates Mallory Cyr and Xuan Espinoza-Cuellar, Si Se Puede Latin@ Democratic Caucus Chair Vicenta Montoya,  and ProgressNow Nevada's Michael Flores, to let us know what we can do to defend our rights this year.

We're really looking forward to next week and the start of this new year, so we hope you'll join us at OFA next Wednesday!
